Thanks. At this point it has absolutely nothing to do with the story, except for the fact that the statement about genes somehow accentuates his character...
But originally it just occured to me while I was riding the bus one day... that the whole intersexual craziness gets attributed to genes these days. (I guess genes can't account for a lot of what we'd like to explain... even in an oversexed postmodern society... and we can't just explain the rest away as deviance or non-standard-situations... like homosexuality for instance... but enough on that for now.)
