I tried the same approach on this page as on page 5 ( http://ad1997.smackjeeves.com/comics/339465/ep-6-page-5/ ) - I wanted to set the "political pages" a bit apart from the story pages. These are not really flashbacks, and in the context of the main story they are barely hints, illustrating background happenings at most. At this point I just want to convey the hazy feeling that this world isn't free from political unrest; it mainly illustrates the claims that have been made repeatedly: that Arcadia is a safe haven, and that the outside world is worse off.
But as far as the factual background of this all goes, it also ties into the main storyline at several points; from A.D to the prime minister to Park and Park's meeting Jack, which bookends this episode. The exact ways in which this all fits together will be explored in what I think of as the second big part of this series, starting with episode 7.
I guess my approach here didn't work quite as well as on page 5, since I wasn't on holiday this time :-) So everything took a bit longer, and turned out a bit more wonky. Probably also because - again - this was all done without any reference.
OMG... hw in the world did you do all the humans.... *dies*
It took some time and resolve to draw them all, but... they're barely more than stickfigures :3
pretty epic pg i might say
